Attach the sheet to your mattress

First thing's first! The Light Sheet needs to attach around a mattress, whether it’s one of our mattresses or your existing sleeping pad.

Light Bed Owner's Manual I Zenbivy

Step 1: Attach the corners of the fitted sheet around an inflated mattress.

Step 2: Clip and adjust the strap on the underside to keep it securely in place.

    Footbox options

Now that your sheet is on your mattress, we’ll move on to the quilt.

    Option 1: Mummy Mode

On cold nights, you’ll probably want to use mummy mode to keep your feet toasty warm. (Images below show the Convertible Footbox quilt)

To form mummy mode on our Fast Footbox™ quilt, flip your quilt over so the lining is facing up. There's only one clip down there—clip that! There you have it. Mummy mode.

Light Bed Owner's Manual I Zenbivy

To form mummy mode on our Convertible Footbox quilt, start by laying the quilt flat on the ground with the lining facing up.

At the foot end, grab the green loop on the bottom left corner and fold it over to meet the green clip. Clip that. Now grab the blue loop on the right corner and fold it over to meet the blue clip. Clip that.

Working your way up the footbox, you’ll find 3 loops to clip in: 2 green ones and then a yellow one at the top. Clip all those.

Finally, back down at the bottom edge, locate the interior snap and snap those two sides together then pull the footbox cinch to securely close it all up.

    Option 2: Wide Mode

If you want more leg room, you can open up mummy mode into what we call “wide mode”. This mode provides a wider footbox while still maintaining warmth.

To form wide mode on a Fast Footbox™ quilt, simply unclip the only clip down near the footbox. Done!

To form wide mode on a Convertible Footbox quilt, unclip the top two clips on the footbox you just formed above.

    Option 3: Flat Mode

This option is only available for our Convertible Footbox quilts. It's great for those warm summer nights when cooling drafts are necessary. Just use the quilt like a flat blanket on top of you—simple! If you want to keep the quilt from drifting away, you can hook one side (or both sides) of the quilt to the sheet but keep the bottom of the quilt flat and open to easily kick your legs out as needed.

Tip: Inflate your camp pillow and pop that in the sheet's integrated hood to keep it from sliding around at night.

Attaching the quilt to the sheet

By attaching the quilt to the hinged “wings” of the fitted sheet, you’re blocking drafts and also keeping the quilt from sliding off you throughout the night. Attaching one side is great for side sleepers and attaching both sides is ideal when it’s cold out to block any side drafts. However, you don’t have to attach the quilt at all if you don’t want to! Test it out and see what works best for you and your sleep style.

Light Bed Owner's Manual I Zenbivy

To attach the quilt to the sheet, you’ll find 4 color-coded loops on either side of the quilt’s exterior that match up with the 4 loops on each side of the sheet.

    Cinching the Kylie-curve™

When needed on cold nights, you can cinch the drawstring that runs along the top center portion of the quilt. This helps to seal in warmth around your neck and prevent any drafts.

Light Bed Owner's Manual I Zenbivy

To cinch the Kylie-curve™, squeeze the cord lock and pull on the loose end to create the curve in the center. The shorter tunnel on the corner of the quilt is just to help guide the excess cord out to the side of the quilt.

NOTE: You do not need to cinch it much. A small amount of cord will create the “hook”. If you cinch it all the way, it’s only going to shorten the top edge of the quilt. You want to cinch it just enough to “hook” around your shoulders/neck. Play around with it and find what’s comfortable for you.

To undo the curve, simply squeeze the cord lock and pull on the sewn-in end to straighten the top edge of the quilt again.

“What are the elastic loops for?”

You may have noticed that there are elastic loops on your quilt that don’t seem to attach to anything… Well, they do! These loops are built into every Zenbivy quilt we’ve ever made and are there to attach our quilt accessories: our Duvet Cover and soon a Quilt Liner as well! *Quilt Liners are not yet available. Duvet Covers are only compatible with the Convertible Footbox quilts.

Final tip: Customize it to suit your sleep style

There are a variety of different ways to set up and use the Light Bed. It’s fully customizable to your sleep style and the environment/temperatures you’re in. Try out different configurations and play around with how you set it up to find the ways that work best for you.

    Long term storage:

When storing your Zenbivy, it's important to give it space. To protect the longevity of the insulation, you never want to store it long-term fully compressed. Each Bed comes with a large mesh storage bag. When coming back from a trip, we'd recommend pulling your Zenbivy out of its Dry Sack as soon as you get home. If it's a nice sunny day, you can hang it up outside for a bit to air it out and let any moisture completely evaporate before stuffing it loosely into the mesh bag.

Each of the down chambers is fully baffled and separated from other baffled chambers, so down can’t migrate and never needs to be “redistributed”. Simply shake the quilt out and let it sit in a warm room and it will regain its loft even after being semi-compressed for a very long time.
